Guess the Starting XI – Can Champ Final vs. TFC

Welcome back, everyone.

This is the big one. The Vancouver Whitecaps will have the chance to secure their national cup trophy for the third season in a row Wednesday night against Toronto FC at BC Place. After resting a host of players against the LA Galaxy, everyone should be fit and available, Andres Cubas and Ali Ahmed included, keeping in mind both teams will need three Canadian starters.

Alright, on to rules we go, I’ll organize the points standings for the Can Champ once the dust settles, hopefully in winning style for Vancouver!

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.

    So many Canadian possibilities tonight! Still not sure if Ahmed is ready to be back but Raposo also hasn’t gotten a lot of minutes lately. Will Johnson get to start if we don’t want to go very hard in the first half? :-p
