Our Team

Samuel Rowan – Co-Creator, Managing Editor
Sam has covered the Vancouver Whitecaps and Canadian soccer since 2018. A member of the North American Soccer Reporters, he previously worked in athletics at both Queen’s University and Simon Fraser University.

Alexandre Gangué-Ruzic – Co-Creator
Alex is a soccer journalist covering Canadian soccer for OneSoccer, CanPL.ca, Northern Futból, and The Third Sub.

Caleb Wilkins – Writer
Caleb describes himself as an aspiring “football man,” though he remains realistic about the odds of those aspirations coming true.

Andrew Bahl – Writer
A devoted observer of the Whitecaps since 2009, Andrew covers the team for the American audience. Off the pitch, he’s a political journalist (pray for him).

Kian Gadsby – Writer
Kian is an emerging journalist with a deep passion for football. He covers the Whitecaps from England, after visiting Vancouver for the back-end of the 2025 season while on exchange at UBC.

Jake Takeuchi – Writer
Jake is the Sports Editor for The Varsity and currently studies at the University of Toronto.

Ian Jones – Social Media
Ian has been covering the Whitecaps since 2016 and is the team’s resident master of memes.

Mark Zhuang – Photographer
Mark joined The Third Sub in 2023 and can often be found on the sidelines of home matches at BC Place.

Chaehyun Lim – Photographer
Chae (aka Romance and Balance) joined the team during the 2025 season and quickly became a fixture, bringing his artistic eye and creative style to the touchline.

Keveren Guillou – Photographer
Keveren has photographed games at BC Place since the Between the Sticks days and has also worked with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Club Eleven.

Ty James – Photographer
Ty is new to the soccer scene, joining The Third Sub in 2025. A veteran photographer in the skateboarding world, he also works in the film industry.
