Good Monday morning Caps fans — hope you all had a lovely weekend and are having a happy Thanksgiving. Despite the Caps not returning to winning ways, it was still a successful weekend trip to LA. Despite playing down a man for 83 minutes, the Caps grabbed a well-deserved point and could make the case that they were the better side in their 1-1 draw … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Monday October 12
Good Friday afternoon Caps fans. I hope you all are having a good week and that your weekend is beckoning ever closer. The Caps’ five-game road trip got off to a rocky start in Chicago, as they fell 3-1 to the Fire in a match they sorely needed at least a point out of. Vancouver was not helped by one of the worst pitches I’ve … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Friday October 9
Good Monday morning Caps fans. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are gearing up for a good week ahead. The Whitecaps got a badly needed win on Saturday night against an RSL team that is fully in free fall. Typically, this is a no-win sort of matchup: RSL has been in such bad form that winning doesn’t get you much credit, while … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Monday September 21
Good Monday morning Caps fans. Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are having a good start to your week. Hopefully, your weekend also wasn’t marred by an infuriating display on Sunday night from the Whitecaps, who beat themselves (with some help from Christian Ramirez and referee Victor Rivas) in a 2-1 loss to Austin FC. That defeat will pretty much cede the Supporters … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Monday September 14
Good Friday morning Caps fans. I hope you all are winding down your week and that your weekend is restful and enjoyable. Well, the Caps’ winning streak will remain stuck at one, with Vancouver falling 1-0 to Houston in a vital game in the midweek, which drops them out of the top spot in the west (albeit with a game in hand still remaining over … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Friday August 21
Good Friday morning Caps fans. Hope you’ve been having a great week and are gearing up for a break this weekend. The Caps’ Leagues Cup adventure did not begin the way they hoped, as they were soundly outplayed by Liga MX newcomers Atlante on Tuesday at BC Place. The 1-0 defeat likely takes the Caps out of the running to advance, as you have to … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Friday August 7
Good Monday morning Caps fans. Hope you all had a good weekend and are gearing up for what lies ahead this the week. It’s been a while since I’ve had to write one of these after an MLS loss, so I can’t really be mad. The 1-0 defeat to Houston on Saturday was frustrating on many levels but it isn’t one with a ton of … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Monday May 18
Good Friday morning Caps fans. Hope it’s been a good week for you all, and that the weekend brings rest and relaxation. The biggest news of the week was the Big Meeting ™ between MLS and governmental leaders of all stripes on Wednesday. The Daily Hive reported that the shindig even included a federal cabinet minister, which would be good news for this effort. The … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Friday May 15
Good Monday morning Caps fans. Sorry for the late send (this is more like “lunchtime with the Caps”), but I hope you all had a lovely weekend and that you have a good week ahead of you. Another week, another 1-1 draw in California. This one, though, came in a big match for both the Whitecaps and San Jose Earthquakes, who sit atop the Western … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Monday May 11
Good Friday morning Caps fans, hope you all have had a lovely week and that you get a well-deserved break this weekend. The big news this week was hearing from Axel Schuster for the first time since the Vegas bid was revealed, and relocation discussions started heating up. Schuster’s tone hasn’t changed, but the good news here is that there’s probably no additional bad news. … Continue reading Coffee with the Caps, Friday May 8
