MLS action returns with a vengeance on Thursday night as two of the league’s top teams from the first half of the season battle it out in Chicago.

Looking at squad news and notes, Sebastian Berhalter is not yet available, but Andres Cubas has returned to training. Kenji Cabrera remains out long term, while Emmanuel Sabbi is nearing a return but is not yet up to full speed. With Ranko Veselinović and Ryan Gauld back in the fold, along with several depth players impressing during the Canadian Championship, Jesper Sørensen has some difficult decisions to make when selecting his starting XI.

Guess the XI – Competition Rules

• Predictions are considered valid only if posted in the correct match thread before the official lineup is announced (typically about one hour before kickoff).
• You earn 1 point for each correctly predicted player in the Starting XI.
• You earn an additional 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
• You earn 5 points for correctly predicting the match result (Win/Draw/Loss).
• This increases to 10 points if you also correctly predict the exact scoreline.
• Therefore, a perfect prediction (Starting XI + result + exact scoreline) is worth a maximum of 25 points.

    1. The Vancouver Whitecaps’ MLS road game against the Chicago Fire scheduled for tonight (July 16) has been postponed due to poor air quality in Chicago caused by wildfire smoke.

      The match has been rescheduled to Tuesday, October 6. The Whitecaps will now return to MLS action on Wednesday, July 22, for a road game against FC Cincinnati.
