Guess the Starting XI – End of Year Awards

Welcome back, everyone.

The Vancouver Whitecaps came up one match short of the promised land this season, bowing out in the MLS Cup Final to Inter Miami.

Despite the frustrating ending, it was a wonderful season of football in Vancouver, and I hope you enjoyed the highs and lows along the way as much as I did.

With that said, it’s time to get down to business and wrap up Guess the Starting XI.

The top three in our season-long MLS standings were well established heading into the final match, and almost everyone elected to go down with the ship in the MLS Cup Final. Before we get to those standings, however, let’s take a look back at the other competitions.

In the Canadian Championship, we had a tie at the top, with IsabelG and RVB97 both finishing on 65 points. The top four in that competition were separated by just three points, highlighting how tight the race was throughout.

Concacaf was equally competitive, with ElCapitano (111) edging out Tecate2 (110) by a single point.

Then, in the MLS standings, Mark Goodman took home the title with an impressive 531 points, finishing ahead of perennial contender IsabelG on 517. AtlantisB rounded out the podium in third place with 511 points.

Doing some quick napkin math, our top overall scorers across all competitions were:

  • IsabelG – 678
  • AtlantisB – 672
  • RVB97 – 667

A big thank you to everyone who played along this season. It was great to see so much engagement on the site, and I’m already looking forward to having everyone back next year. Until then, enjoy a restful offseason and happy holidays!
