Guess the Starting XI – Match Six at Toronto FC

Welcome back, everyone.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are in action this coming Saturday afternoon in Toronto, as they face TFC for the first time in 2025.

The Reds only have a single point so far this season, and they have conceded 12 goals, more than any other team in MLS. Nonetheless, the Whitecaps will be a hungry to get things back on track after a frustrating result against Chicago at home. It was a match where the squad was severely shorthanded and although it was close, the Whitecaps eventually lost by a score of 3-1, for their first dropped points of the year.

In terms of squad news, those on international duty are back with the club this week, while Ryan Gauld and Sam Adekugbe are still recovering from their respective injuries.

Alright, on to rules and standings we go.

– Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
– You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
– You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
– All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
– At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.

  5. Ah Toronto!…Herdman one lucky guy!
A disciplinary committee hearing into John Herdman, triggered by the Olympic drone-spying scandal, has concluded with the former Canada coach receiving a written admonishment.

A clean sheet for us would be nice but that’s not really a Whitecaps thing.

I haven’t watched Toronto so I don’t know how they line up against our new style of play. Seems from the scorelines they do score goals though.

2-1 Caps. Curious whether anyone goes with TFC – they have to win some time – don’t they?

    1. I was almost gonna say 2-1 Toronto! I can’t bring myself to say they are going to lose though. Like last week I said to my kid I feel it’s going to be Chicago 2-1 but I still said the caps were going to win on here !!
