Guess the Starting XI – CCC vs. Monterrey (Second Leg)

Welcome back, everyone.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are down in Mexico midweek, as they face CF Monterrey for the second leg of a Concacaf Champions Cup tie in the Round of 16. There is a bit of an oddity for this match, as Monterrey will host the Whitecaps at Estadio Corona, the home of Santos Laguna, as there is a scheduling conflict (Shakira concert) being played at their home stadium.

In terms of the tie itself, the Whitecaps must score. A 1-1 match would go to penalties, and a higher scoring win or draw would go in favour of the Whitecaps. In terms of injuries, Sam Adekugbe, Jayden Nelson, Emmanuel Sabbi, and Ryan Gauld are out. Otherwise, squad rotation has to be considered, with Vancouver playing on the weekend in Dallas.

Alright, on to rules and standings we go.

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.
