Guess the Starting XI – CCC vs. Deportivo Saprissa

Welcome back, everyone!

The 2025 season starts with a Concacaf trip to Costa Rica, as the Whitecaps take on Deportivo Saprissa on Thursday night.

Vancouver has made a coaching change this off-season, and although the core group of players remains the same, this team will most certainly have a new feel for 2025. Whether or not that will be a good thing, we will have to wait and see.

For all the specifics of the matchup itself, I would encourage you to read our match preview.

In terms of injuries and absences, both Damir Kreilach and Emmanuel Sabbi are out for this one.

In terms of predictions, last year we kept the Concacaf standings separate, so please let me know if you would like that again this year.

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.

    I have a feeling they will rest Gauld ,Cubas, and Sam (due to potential injury) but they will win 2-1
