Guess the Starting XI – Match Twenty Seven vs. San Jose

Welcome back, everyone.

After an eventful 0-0 draw last weekend against FC Dallas at home, the Vancouver Whitecaps have a big chance for three points this weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes, especially with a much closer to full strength squad at their disposal.

The Quakes have been struggling all season, having already allowed 63 goals (2.33) per match in league play, and with just two wins in the league since May.

In terms of Vancouver’s squad, here is the latest from training.

In short, White and Cubas are out for this match, while Ahmed’s minutes will be limited, so I think he will feature off the bench.

Ok, on to rules and standings.

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.
