Guess the Starting XI – Leagues Cup vs. Pumas

Welcome back, everyone.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are on to the elimination rounds of Leagues Cup for the second year of the competition. After facing a somewhat familiar face in Tigres last year in the round of 32, this year will be a journey of exploration, as Vancouver takes on Pumas UNAM at BC Place.

In terms of Vancouver’s lineup, Belal Halbouni is unfortunately in concussion protocol after taking a ball to the face against Tijuana. Otherwise, there are not too many updates from training, but this was some good news from this week.

As you can see, I have created a separate Leagues Cup table. Hopefully these scores are accurate, but if I have missed something, please let me know in the comments.

Ok, on to rules and standings.

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.

    I feel leagues cup should be combined with Canadian Championship (and in subsequent years Champions Cup). Have an MLS standings and a non-MLS standing
