Welcome back, everyone.
The Vancouver Whitecaps are down in LA on Tuesday night to open up their Leagues Cup campaign against a familiar foe in LAFC.
After a friendly against Wrexham this past weekend, it’s hard to say exactly how the Whitecaps will treat this competition, with much of the focus for this season being placed on MLS play and defending their Canadian Championship trophy.
In terms of the squad, Ryan Gauld is out injured, while Javain Brown is no longer with the team after being placed on waivers. Tristan Blackmon also did not make the bench against Wrexham, so I imagine he’s doubtful for this one.
In terms of standings, please let me know what we should do with Leagues Cup, my thought was that it shouldn’t count towards the overall points race, as some may have understandably decided to take a bit of time away before the Caps are back in MLS action on August 24th.
Alright, on to rules as always.
- Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
- You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
- You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
- All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
- At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.
