Welcome back, everyone.
Following two straight defeats on the road, the Vancouver Whitecaps are back in action this weekend, taking on St. Louis City SC at BC Place on Saturday night.
After a memorable inaugural season for St. Louis, things are not going quite as well in year two, as they currently sit 12th in the West with 19 points from 19 matches played and a -7 goal difference. The good luck which seemed to bless the club for most of last season, at least up until the playoffs, has dissipated and been replaced by some bad luck, as they’ve dropped a number of tough games where they’ve played decently over their current 8 match winless streak. Roman Bürki remains elite between the sticks for St. Louis, so Vancouver will have to get some volume on target Saturday night.
In terms of Vancouver’s squad, here is the latest from training this week. Brian White needed four stitches for the cut he sustained last weekend in Portland, but he’s 100% good to go for this upcoming weekend. Also, a reminder that Ali Ahmed and Andres Cubas are still away as well. Alessandro Schopf, following his red card, is suspended.

- Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
- You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
- You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
- All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
- At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.
