Guess the Starting XI – Match Four vs. Real Salt Lake

Welcome back, everyone.

Is two a streak?

The Vancouver Whitecaps are back home for four straight after securing two huge road wins the past two weekends.

This weekend, the Whitecaps matchup against Real Salt Lake in a Western Conference clash of teams who showed a lot of promise at the end of last season. So far in 2024, Salt Lake is 1-1-2, with mixed results over the last two match weeks (they were on a bye last weekend). RSL won a memorable snowy contest against LAFC, but followed that up two weeks ago with a loss at home in the Rocky Mountain Derby against Colorado Rapids.

In terms of Vancouver’s squad, Fafa Picault is away on international duty with Haiti, while Andres Cubas is off with Paraguay. Sam Adekugbe, meanwhile, is set to make a return off the bench after months away tending to a ongoing knee issue.

Alright, on to rules and standings we go…

  • Predictions will be ‘valid’ if posted HERE (or more accurately, whichever is the correct match thread) before the lineup is officially announced, usually about an hour before kickoff.
  • You receive 1 point for every player you correctly guess to be in the Starting XI. You receive 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.
  • You get 5 points for correctly guessing Win/Lose/Draw, this doubles to 10 if you also predict the right score-line along with the result.
  • All this means, if you correctly predict the Starting XI, Final Score, and Winner, you can earn 25 points!
  • At the end of each half of the season, the contestant’s lowest two scores (or missed predictions) of that period will be deducted from the cumulative standings.
