Guess the Starting XI – Match One vs. Real Salt Lake

Welcome back, everyone.

The Vancouver Whitecaps return to MLS action this weekend with their home opener, as they host Real Salt Lake in a Western Conference matchup.

RSL finished ninth in the West last season and were not the most impressive side. However, there has been significant roster turnover, so perhaps this new group can provide the spark that was missing for long stretches, particularly outside of Diego Luna.

As for Vancouver, Ryan Gauld remains out, while new signings Caicedo and Sabaly have yet to join the squad. Otherwise, Jesper Sørensen will need to manage energy levels following the midweek match, though it is difficult to envision more than a couple of changes to the starting XI.

• Predictions are considered valid only if posted in the correct match thread before the official lineup is announced (typically about one hour before kickoff).

• You earn 1 point for each correctly predicted player in the Starting XI.
• You earn an additional 4 bonus points for correctly predicting all 11 starters.

• You earn 5 points for correctly predicting the match result (Win/Draw/Loss).
• This increases to 10 points if you also correctly predict the exact scoreline.

• Therefore, a perfect prediction (Starting XI + result + exact scoreline) is worth a maximum of 25 points.

      Canada captain Alphonso Davies sustained a torn muscle fibre in his right hamstring during a game Saturday, his club Bayern Munich has confirmed. Davies went off injured during Bayern Munich’s 3-2 Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt. The soccer club said his injury was confirmed after and examination carried out its medical staff, and that Davies will be sidelined “for the time being.”

  23. For the RSL lineup I think this will be it:
    Cabral; Glad, Engel, Juan Arias; Katranis, Spierings, Luna, Ruiz, Gozo; Olatunji, Guilavogui. That is my Prediction for the RSL lineup
